Denver Grand Jury Indicts 13 Members of the Too Damn Smooth Gang on 255 Criminal Counts – Denver DA - Denver District Attorney's Office

DENVER—Last week, a Denver grand jury indicted 13 individuals on 255 felony counts for alleged crimes involving 113 victims after a multi-year investigation by RAVEN, the Regional Anti-Violence Enforcement Network. As a result, the Denver District Attorney’s office has now opened criminal cases against each individual. According to the indictment, the 13 individuals were all members of a criminal street gang that identified itself as “2DS” (Too Damn Smooth, Too Damn Self-Made and/or Too Damn Styling). The group is accused of violating Colorado’s Organized Crime Control Act as well as being responsible for 18 shootings including drive-by shootings that put innocent bystanders at grave risk of death. One shooting incident resulted in the homicide of Jesus Duran-Maldonado in Commerce City on February 26, 2022. Another shooting incident resulted in the homicide of Christian Chirinos-Salazar in Denver on May 28, 2022. The defendants are also charged with numerous other counts including attempted homicide, aggravated motor vehicle theft, assault, menacing and robbery.

“We believe these individuals shared a common goal of committing violence primarily against their rival gang members to gain notoriety, credibility, and perceived dominance over both their neighborhood,” said Denver DA Beth McCann. “This is a very important development in our continuing efforts to keep the community safe from violent organized criminal activities and took a tremendous amount of work by members of my office as well as our law enforcement partners. I thank all our partner agencies.”

“The RAVEN task force continues to bring meaningful relief to victims, families and neighborhoods that experience violent gun crime,” said RAVEN Task Force Commander. Michael Gaskill.”  RAVEN’S forensic driven investigations, dedicated investigators, analysts, and support personnel coupled with a close partnership with the Denver District Attorney’s Office has resulted in a successful case investigation and made our community a safer place.”

“Removing these alleged violent offenders from our streets again demonstrates our ongoing commitment to holding accountable the most serious offenders causing harm in our neighborhoods,” said Denver Chief of Police Ron Thomas. “I am grateful for our RAVEN taskforce partners and the investigators’ hard work in making Denver and the Metro area safer.”

“The ATF RAVEN Task Force, is a dedicated team constructed of more than a dozen law enforcement agencies and resources unified by an unwavering commitment to dismantle organized violent criminal activity,” said Acting ATF Special Agent in Charge Kirk Howard. “Today’s successful operation was made possible because of the exceptional work of the RAVEN Task Force and the strong prosecutorial partnership with the Denver District Attorney’s Office.”

The 13 defendants will be prosecuted by the Denver District Attorney’s Office and their Denver District Court case numbers are:
