About 1. 3 lakh aspirants appeared for NEET, conducted from 2pm to 5. 30pm across the state, with 50 exam centres in Bengaluru itself. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s r oadshow in the city over the weekend had raised fears of traffic disruption and diversions, prompting the BJP leadership to split the originally planned Saturday mega roadshow into two legs, spilling over to S unday as well. Students unanimously said election campaigning and roadshow did not affect their performance as it were mostly their parents who handled the commute to the exam centres and back.
Parents who spoke to TOI at a few centres, said they had arrived at least an hour ahead of the reporting time of 11am. “Our daughter has been preparing for a year now and she was calm throughout. There was no traffic issue as we arrived at our centre in Army Public School, Kamaraj Road, from Mathikere. Wereached in 20 minutes. The swapping of the rally timing was a good i dea,” Chandrakala K, a parent, told TOI.
While some said they had started off early from their homes in order to avoid anticipated traffic snarls, others stated they encountered minimal traffi c on Sunday on their way to the examination centres. They said they were relieved when the longer leg of the Modi roadshow was a dvanced to Saturday, thereby ensuring smooth commute. S tudent Harsha from Dasarahalli 8th milestone said there was very little traffic around his examination centre at ASC and Centre on Lower Agaram Road. It took him about 45 minutes to reach the centre and the ride was hassle-free.
