Audi GT Project Is a Smooth Mix Between the Rosemeyer Concept and TT Spice - autoevolution

20 years ago, German carmaker Audi presented the Rosemeyer concept car. It is one of the most extreme car designs coming out of ‎Ingolstadt, bud sadly it was never meant to be a production car.‎

Boasting lines that were somewhat familiar from the TT which was introduced a couple of years earlier, it boasted a Bugatti-like front end, flared wheel arches, and was meant as a throwback to the Silver Arrows Auto Union fielded at race tracks in the years before the war.

Whereas the Rosemeyer story ended quickly after it started, the TT still soldiers on as the quintessential 2-door sports car of the German carmaker. But how would the design of the TT look like in the future, when the quattro technology would have evolved to new levels of capabilities?

One possible answer is the car in the gallery above. The work of a British designer by the name Jordan Gendler, the car is officially called Audi GT, and blends TT and Rosemeyer cues with lines only the future could bring.

Seemingly longer than the TT, the car continues to be a two-door. It’s body is divided in half by a horizontal notch that runs the length of the car and all the way around the front and back. At the front extremity, the notch hides the headlights, which coupled with the illuminated Audi logo in the hood make for a very impressive appearance.

The rear on the other hand is where the Rosemeyer influences are felt the most. That’s sad, sort of, because it was the front that made that concept look apart when it was first shown.

We are not being told what type of powertrain this car could possibly hide under the smooth body, but we think it wouldn’t be too far fetched to image an electric one pushing the car along.
