CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - During the U.S. Attorney General’s visit to Wyoming on Thursday. He held a round table meeting with Wyoming’s state and local law enforcement and officials where he joined Wyoming Attorney General Bridget Hill, U.S. Attorney for the District of Wyoming Mark Klaassen, Interim Director of Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation Forrest Williams, and DEA Acting Administrator Tim Shea.

Later in the afternoon, we had the chance to speak with the Attorney General, prompting him with questions regarding the current relationship between law enforcement and the American public. Adding how the U.S. Justice Department means to reassure the public the police are there to protect & serve the American people.

Attorney General Barr stated, “The real threat to people is violent crime. The only people that can deal with that are the police. It’s a tough job, it’s the hardest job in the united states I think, and they deserve or respect.” He adds, “I don’t think what happened in Minneapolis is representative of the police. It’s something that can be addressed. If someone does something wrong, Just as if a soldier does something wrong we bring him to justice. But, we don’t demonize all the police in the country. I think doing so is very dangerous I think most American’s don’t I think most American’s respect their police and support the police.”

The Attorney General commented that like any institution there is always room for improvement. While adding, he is immensely proud of the current law enforcement. “I am very proud of the law enforcement in this country. I think we have the best most professional law enforcement in the world.” He continues, “One of the things about our police is they have been constantly Professionalizing over the past several decades. I think we have the best most professional law enforcement in the world.”
