BALTIMORE (WBFF) — Last month the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals struck down a state law requiring those wanting to purchase a handgun to go through a qualification process, calling the law unconstitutional.

However, there is speculation that Maryland Attorney General Anthony Brown will try to challenge that ruling sometime next week.
FOX45 News spoke with political analyst John Dedi.
“What the attorney general can do is appeal this probably to the United States Supreme Court," said Dedi.
AG Brown could also requestion the Fourth Circuit Court to have a rehearing of the decision.
“First this is a democratic state and Brown has always had this opinion on guns," said Dedi.

However, Republican lawmakers like Andy Harris say the law that had been on the books for 10 years, only affected legal gun owners.
“The bottom line is the criminals are gonna have the firearms," said Harris.
Delegate Robin Grammer agrees.
“Every year, we pass another law the criminalizes gun ownership. And nothings happen expect violent crime, spiraling out of control," said Grammer.
