Bacardi has launched a new range of Port-cask-finished Scotch whiskies under the Dewar's whisky brand.
The Dewar's Portuguese Smooth Series, which is double-aged in Port casks, has been released to celebrate the brand's 175th anniversary. It opens with an eight-year-old variant, called Portuguese Smooth Series 8 Year Old.
The launch follows the release last year of two other Dewar's 'Smooth' lines - double-aged blended Scotch cask-finished ranges matured in Caribbean rum and mezcal barrels.
Commenting on the latest launch, Dewar's North American VP Brian Cox said: "It is about enjoyment, not rules, and through this we are certain that this great whisky will challenge some pre-conceived notions of what standard blended Scotch whisky is about."
To support the release, Bacardi will run a virtual cocktail and culinary class on 28 February hosted by Dewar's master blender Stephanie MacLeod.
In November, Bacardi rolled out a multi-million-dollar television and digital campaign for Dewar's in the US.
