Here are the unofficial results of New Jersey’s Senate and Assembly elections held on Tuesday, Nov. 7, including all 40 legislative districts across the state.
The outcome of these elections will determine which candidates will serve in each house of the state Legislature — the governing body in Trenton that crafts the state’s laws and passes the state budget.
With no races for governor, president or Congress, this is an “off-year” election, and turnout was expected to be low. But all 120 seats in the Legislature — 40 in the state Senate and 80 in the Assembly — were on the ballot, in redrawn form under a new legislative map.
Democrats are seeking to keep control of both chambers and possibly win back ground two years after a shocking election in which they lost seven seats. Republicans are trying to expand that momentum from 2021 to take at least one house for the first time in more than 20 years. Several districts have especially bitter contests.
The results below, compiled by the Associated Press, will be updated throughout the night, so please check back later or refresh the page to see the latest tallies. The numbers will be updated overnight and during the upcoming days as mail-in ballots and provisional ballots are counted.
Note: The vote totals in uncontested races will not be listed below.
