Things went much smoother this season for the Windsor Spitfires with first-round pick Ryan Abraham.
A year ago, it was nearly two months before the Spitfires finally got top pick Wyatt Johnston to sign because of rumours of the team’s sale swirling.

However, the 16-year-old Abraham was committed to coming to the Ontario Hockey League from the day he was drafted by the Spitfires and the Detroit Compuware U15 product officially signed his standard player agreement and education package on Wednesday.
“I’m really excited it’s done,” the five-foot-seven, 155-pound Abraham said.
Spitfires’ general manager Bill Bowler said he was never concerned about the two sides coming to terms.
“With Wyatt, it was just the uncertainty of the team,” Bowler said. “The OHL is a great league and the Windsor Spitfires a program that players want to play for. The reality is we’re pretty confident in the player and (him not signing) never entered my mind.
