Emporia Christian School administration noting mostly smooth start to fall semester - KVOE

A week into the fall semester and minus a few "hiccups" here and there, Emporia Christian School is off to a smooth start according to Principal Sally Kaiser.

Kaiser says students and staff are adjusting as best as can be expected to the plethora of COVID related changes within the school. She says they are doing everything possible to follow guidance from local health experts as well as mandates from Governor Laura Kelly.

Kaiser says all desks have been socially distanced, signage has been placed in hallways, proper hygiene has become a part of the daily curriculum and students are wearing masks inside the building whenever possible.

Kaiser says the school is starting the year off with all in-person education for two major reasons. First to allow students and staff a chance to connect with one another in person in the event classes have to move to online only.

Second, Kaiser says the school wants to accommodate their parents who have to work during the day and cannot stay home with remote only learners.

So far the only major issue Kaiser noted was a strain placed on the school's technological system.

KVOE will be continuing its regular updates with area school administrators and superintendents as the school year unfolds.
