Fresh fruit smoothies and acai bowls coming to Central Filling Station - Knoxville News Sentinel

Tylee Torres has revamped a trailer and is ready to hit the road with a fun, new concept, Drink Smooth mobile event co.

“I have always been very active and worked out,” said Torres. “I’m very careful about what I eat; I love smoothies and make them for myself every day. I often make a couple of smoothies at a time in Mason jars and keep them in the fridge. They are not heavy and you feel lighter and pretty good after you drink one.”

After looking for a long time for the right trailer, Torres was worried she was forcing her dream of opening a mobile smoothie bar, and was ready to give up when she spotted a listing on Facebook the next day.

“It is about 16 feet long, it had exactly what I needed inside — a prep table and sinks,” Torres said. “I put in a backsplash, hung shelves — It came bare and I put everything into it to customize it.”

Starting out, the menu will have a choice of eight smoothies with three to four smoothie bowls with toppings such as granola and chia seeds. “New smoothies flavors will be added as I transition into the next season,” said Torres.

Just some of the fun meal-replacement smoothie flavors on the menu include cinnamon roll, choc ‘n’ PB protein, Aloha pineapple, coffee espresso, and green peach. For fall, Torres has experimented with seasonal pumpkin spice, apple pie and banana bread flavors. “They are pretty and orange," she said.

Before Drink Smooth rolls up to the first event, Torres said she is already pretty booked up.

“Our first event will be at the Neighborhood Barre in Powell, and I’ll be at Reap the Sew and Central Filling Station, typically two to three times a week,” said the Halls resident. “I wanted to stay local and be around for my friends and community. The big inspiration for that is that there is nothing healthy-ish around here for meal replacements.”

In addition to regular bookings outside gyms and boutiques, Torres said she hopes to show up to other places including birthday parties, outside workplaces at lunch time — anywhere she can take the trailer.

The menu will be limited only by the ingredients on the trailer at the time. “We can make smoothies pretty basic or pretty funky and will try to work with special requests,” said Torres.

For the holidays, The Drink Smooth will have flavors such as eggnog and peppermint.

The Drink Smooth trailer will also double as a photo background for social media posts. “People can take pictures in front of it, and on the back side it says ‘Cheers’,” said Torres. Torres said she will likely change up the decorations for holiday photos, too.

Even before Torres decided to launch Drink Smooth, she was pretty busy. Torres is in her senior year at the University of Tennessee earning her degree in marketing and international business, oversees Reap the Sew’s social media, sells hair and skincare products and babysits.

“With school being online, that has been a blessing, I have a more open schedule and free time because I’m not driving to and from campus,” she said. “I’m not one to sit around or to take a nap. People tell me to slow down, but my days are always crammed. I’m excited to see where this goes.”

Drink Smooth is already booking up fast at local boutiques, the Neighborhood Barre, Burn Boot Camp and the Central Filling Station. Torres said she will regularly update her Instagram and Facebook pages @Thedrinksmooth with her locations for the week, as well as posting giveaways and collaborating on special promotions with local businesses. Torres also accepts bookings via direct message.
