The Blackhawks have completed an interview with Scott Mellanby for the General Manager position, the team announced on Saturday.
Mellanby most recently served as an Assistant General Manager of the Montreal Canadiens from 2014-2021.
Chicago previously completed interviews with current Interim General Manager Kyle Davidson and Carolina Assistant General Manager Eric Tulsky earlier in the week and plans to continue updates as more General Manager interviews are finished in the coming days.
About Scott Mellanby
A native of Montreal, Mellanby was promoted to Assistant General Manager of the Canadiens in the summer of 2014 after serving as the team's Director of Player Personnel for two seasons prior. He previously spent three seasons as a consultant in the Vancouver Canucks hockey operations department from 2007-10 and two seasons as an assistant coach for the St. Louis Blues from 2010-12.
He had a successful 21-year NHL career suiting up for 1,431 games, ranking him 30th on the all-time list for most games played. He recorded 840 points (364 goals and 476 assists) and served 2,479 penalty minutes, 24th on the NHL all-time list. He was drafted in the second round, 27th overall, by Philadelphia in 1984 and played for the Flyers, Oilers, Panthers, Blues and Thrashers.
Mellanby, 55, played two seasons of college hockey at the University of Wisconsin University. He also helped Canada win a silver medal at the 1986 WJHC, notching nine points (5G, 4A) in seven games.
