The United Nations’ 193-nation General Assembly met Monday for the first emergency session of the General Assembly in decades as Russian forces attacked Ukraine and Russia’s leader, Vladimir Putin put his nuclear forces on alert.

The meeting gives all U.N. members an opportunity to speak about the war and vote on a resolution later in the week to hold Russia to account for its actions.
“Enough is enough,” U.N Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said. “I hope that the direct talks now taking place between Ukrainian and Russian delegations will produce not only an immediate halt to the fighting, but also a peace towards a diplomatic solution.”
